Republic Square
One of the most iconic landmarks in Yerevan, Republic Square is a massive plaza that houses some of the city's most important buildings. These include the National Art Gallery, the Government House of Armenia and the Republic Post Office.
It's built from tuff, which is traditional Armenian stone with hues that range from yellow to blush pink. The tuff is also a popular material for buildings in the city, which makes them stand out amongst the rest of Yerevan's architecture.
The square also hosts a number of fountains that dance to music. They're a favorite entertainment spot for locals and travelers alike, and they're sure to take your breath away.
Cascade Stairwell
The Cascade Stairwell is one of the main symbols of Yerevan and it links two parts of the city. It is also a landmark for the city and has eight levels that can be reached by climbing up or taking an elevator.
The stairway is a must-see for anyone visiting Yerevan and is a great place to stop by when strolling around the city centre. It is also a good place to take in the city’s modern architecture and contemporary art scene.
A short walk from the stairway is a large statue of Alexander Tamanian, a famous architect who designed many buildings in Yerevan. He was also responsible for designing the opera house and theatre complex.
Hrazdan Gorge
If you’re interested in nature, you will love Hrazdan Gorge. It is a hidden beauty in the center of Yerevan that is adored by many residents and even more tourists.
The gorge is a perfect place to take a stroll and enjoy the fresh air and peaceful atmosphere. It is also a great spot to see the city from a different perspective, especially the tall buildings and bridges that you can’t see from the main road.
You can get there by taking a tunnel that connects the city center with the Gorge. It is a great way to avoid the crowds and traffic.
Yerevan Botanical Garden
The Yerevan Botanical Garden is a great place to get away from the city and enjoy the fresh air. There are a lot of flowers, bridges and waterfalls in the garden.
The garden is also home to a number of fountains, known as pulpulak, which make for great photo opportunities. The most impressive one is Yot Aghbyur, or ‘Seven Springs’, which sits on the western side of Republic Square near the museum and has been a fixture of the city since 1965.

Katoghike Holy Mother of God Church
Katoghike Holy Mother of God Church is a house of Christian worship located in the center of Yerevan. It is a very interesting and beautiful place of worship, which can be visited for free.
It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and it’s famous for the ancient relic of the spear that pierced Christ’s body. Its high vault is very impressive and its stained glass window is an art piece in itself.
Echmiadzin, the seat of the Patriarch of Armenia and Catholicos of all Armenians is a UNESCO World Heritage Site known as the “Armenian Vatican.” It’s easy to visit on a day trip from Yerevan. It also has many churches to visit, including the Cathedral of Saint Gregory the Illuminator and the church of St. Hripsime, which is built on the same site where a pagan temple was first dedicated to Christianity in 301 AD.
