Mechelen is one of Belgium’s most underrated cities and deserves a closer look. It has a gorgeous cathedral, lots of stunning churches, riverside walking and plenty of Baroque buildings to admire.
Unlike Bruges and Brussels, Mechelen is not as touristy and has a relaxed, cosy feel to it. It’s also very family friendly and there are plenty of child-friendly restaurants, activities and attractions for kids to enjoy in the city.
A walk around the Grote Markt, a central market square, is a must for visitors to Mechelen. It’s a beautiful collection of mid-century structures in excellent condition.

Knokke-Heist

The forest is made up of 4,000 trees, each representing a fallen soldier and has an incredible design that only those who see it can truly appreciate.
Dinant
Located deep within Wallonia’s countryside, Dinant is a beautiful, quiet escape from Belgium’s larger cities. With its picturesque landscapes, cliffs and caves, it’s a must-see for anyone looking for a unique destination.
The main attraction in Dinant is the citadel which perches on an outcrop above the town. It offers sweeping views of the Meuse river as well as the historic cathedral and colorful buildings at the base of the cliff’s side.
Another must-visit is the Notre Dame church which is built entirely from grey limestone. Inside there is an enormous stained glass window by Ghent glass artists.
You’ll also find a fun saxophone museum here at the birthplace of Adolphe Sax, the inventor of the saxophone. There are 60 eye-catching saxophone statues dotted around the city and you can even get a free walking tour map that will show you where to spot them.
