Whether you’re traveling for business or pleasure, there are so many things to see and to do in Cebu City. These include awe-inspiring landmarks, breathtaking beaches and incredible nature adventures.
A must-visit on any Cebu City tour is the Basilica Menor del Santo Nino. It’s the oldest Christian church in the Philippines and home to Ferdinand Magellan’s Cross, the Holy Child Jesus.
Moalboal
Cebu City is a major transport hub and travel destination in the Philippines so if you are backpacking around the country chances are you will pass through it at some point.
Moalboal is located just a few hours from Cebu City and there are many things to do in Moalboal during your time here. One of the best things to do is a day trip to Kawasan Falls, which are only about 30-40 minutes away from Moalboal by car and surrounded by stunning jungle scenery with incredible turquoise pools to relax in.
Diving is another popular activity to do in Moalboal and there are a number of reefs that are a great spot to take a dive. The waters are incredibly clear and you can even snorkel the Sardine Run which is a beautiful underwater world full of colourful fish that are completely harmless!
Oslob
Oslob, the quaint coastal town in Cebu, is home to a variety of must-see sights. It's primarily famous for its whale shark experience, but the area is also home to numerous waterfalls, a stunning sandbar, and a breathtaking lookout - all of which are worth visiting.
If you're a history buff, check out the Cuartel Ruins and Old Oslob Church. These are well-preserved structures from the Spanish colonization period of 1521 to 1898.
There's also the Magellan's Cross, planted by Ferdinand Magellan as a sign of Christianity in the Philippines. This monument is still standing today and can be seen from the highway as you drive to Tingko Beach.
If you're looking to get away from the city, Sumilon Island is an excellent choice! You can catch a boat trip to Sumilon Island Sand Bar and spend the day exploring the sandbar and surrounding islands. It's a relatively inexpensive way to see a new part of the Philippines!
Cebu City Beaches
One of the most popular destinations in the Philippines, Cebu City is home to many world-class beaches that have become famous worldwide. Whether you’re looking for a romantic getaway or an active vacation, this island is the perfect place to soak up some sun, sea, and sand!
What you’ll find here are stretches of pristine white sand, coconut palm trees, and crystal-clear waters. There’s also a small reef that makes this beach an excellent spot for snorkeling!

This beach is a favorite of locals, especially during weekends. It’s not very large, but still popular because of its fine white sand and clean water.
Jumalon Butterfly Sanctuary and Art Gallery
If you’re an avid nature lover, be sure to visit Jumalon Butterfly Sanctuary and Art Gallery. This is a great place to learn about the different species of butterflies in the Philippines.
- This place is a veritable rainforest with tropical plants, flowers and colorful butterflies. There are lots of them fluttering around, so make sure to bring your camera!
- The museum is free to visit. You can also join a guided tour to learn about entomology and the different species of butterflies in Cebu.
- Another must-visit tourist spot is Tops Lookout, which offers sweeping views of the city. It’s one of the best ways to take in the intricate beauty of the Philippines.
