4. Sutter’s Fort State Historic Park
Situated smack dab in midtown Sacramento, this state park re-creates what remains of the first non-Native American settlement in California’s Central Valley. Set in 1846, this park aims to recapture the spirit of early California life.
Built by Swiss immigrant Johann Augustus Sutter in 1839, Sutter’s Fort was the center of his agricultural empire named New Helvetia. Inside the adobe compound were sleeping quarters, carpenter and blacksmith shops, a gunsmith, distillery, bakery, blanket factory, and other workshops.
5. Golden 1 Center
The Kings’ home venue is one of Sacramento’s most popular attractions and offers plenty of fun activities and events. This month, the arena is hosting nine NBA games, along with several concerts and high school basketball games.
