France is a place of natural beauty, rich history and vibrant culture. It is one of the most popular vacation destinations in Europe.

Whether you want to stroll along the beaches of the French Riviera, visit the historic sites in Paris, or experience the wild country in the Languedoc region, there is something for everyone here!

Bordeaux

Bordeaux is a charming city with a storied core and an abundance of cultural attractions. Its wide boulevards, 18th-century architecture and riverside street culture make it a pleasant place for a city break.

In addition to its historic buildings and UNESCO World Heritage Site designation, Bordeaux has a reputation for excellent cuisine, including fresh seafood. Its art galleries and museums are also well worth visiting.

You won’t want to miss a visit to La Cite du Vin, France’s premier wine museum and arguably one of the best museums in the world. During your visit, you’ll engage your senses in an immersive, educational and fun journey through the history of wine from 6,000 BC to today.

There’s also the Palais Gallien, a 2nd-century amphitheater that was a popular venue for Roman games and gladiator fights. Tour Pey-Berland, the richly decorated freestanding bell tower next to the cathedral, is another must-see.

Avignon

The ancient Provencal town of Avignon is one of the best places to visit in France. Encircled by 4.3km-long stone ramparts, Avignon is home to a plethora of medieval sights and is the setting for one of Europe's oldest festivals, Festival d'Avignon.

During July, the city's streets are filled with music and theatre performances. It's a wonderful time to visit, but you can see Avignon at its most lively anytime of year.

Avignon's main square, Place de l'Horloge, is the heart of the city. This is the perfect spot to relax and enjoy a rose at an outdoor cafe under the shady plane trees, or simply watch people go by.

For a bit of culture before you head to the Palace of the Popes, take a stroll through Avignon's museum district. The Petit Palais Museum, tucked away in what once was a cardinal's residence, displays the Church's collection of medieval Italian art.

Marseille

Marseille, France’s oldest and second-largest city, has a unique culture that separates it from other leading cities in the country. And it’s a city where you can feel the energy and vibrancy of its people.

The city is a major regional centre for culture and entertainment, with an important opera house, museums, five art galleries and numerous cinemas, clubs, bars and restaurants. It also has a vibrant, youthful nightlife scene.

The Old Port, around which the city is built, is an attractive area that’s a real draw for visitors. It’s easy to get around on foot and is one of the best places in Marseilles to see some of its most popular sights.

Marseille

Mont Saint-Michel

One of France’s most spectacular sights, Mont Saint-Michel is a tidal island built on a granite outcrop in the mouth of the river Couesnon. It’s connected to the mainland by a causeway, and visitors can take a shuttle bus between the two.

As well as its remarkable Gothic abbey, the island also boasts a series of medieval buildings, all brilliantly preserved. It’s the kind of place where you can get lost in history, walking along ancient ramparts and seeing the fortifications that have been used to defend the town against invaders for centuries.

A trip to Mont Saint Michel is a must-do for any French visitor, and it’s easy to see why! Visit during spring, when the crowds are at a minimum and the weather is lovely.

La Teste-de-Buch

From the stunning villages to the laid-back vibes, the rolling vineyards, and of course, the iconic capital city of Paris, there’s so much to see and do in France. While it’s unquestionably the most famous country in the world, there are a lot of other amazing places to visit, too.

La Teste-de-Buch is the perfect place to visit if you’re looking for some relaxation, culture, and adventure. Its picturesque town centre offers plenty of things to do and see, from museums and galleries to markets and restaurants.

The nearby salt flats and oyster port (port ostreicole) are also great places to spend some time, as are the beaches. And if you love horse racing, then you’ll be pleased to know that there are many televised race meetings held in the area throughout the year.
