There are so many things to do in Dusseldorf, and one of them is visiting the iconic Rheinturm tower! This tower is the highest building in the city and offers a 360-degree view of the whole area.

Another thing to do is visiting the beautiful museums of Dusseldorf, as they will tell you a lot about German history and culture. They also have great photo opportunities!

1. The View

At 240.5 meters high, the Rhine Tower in Dusseldorf is one of the city's most prominent landmarks. While it may not seem as dramatic on the ground, the tower's observation deck provides a spectacular view over the city.

The tower, built between 1979 and 1981, was designed by architect H. Deilmann and is now a world-famous landmark.

Located in the Media Harbour, the tower offers spectacular views of the town center and the Rhine river. From the tower's viewing platform you can admire the historic city centre, Hofgarten (Court Garden), Konigsallee and the Rhine with its numerous bridges.

Besides the stunning views, the tower also has an observatory and a revolving restaurant at 172.5 metres high. The latter revolves once per hour.

2. The Restaurant

If you want to take in all of Dusseldorf from a higher point, there’s no better place than the revolving restaurant at the top of the Rhine Tower. The restaurant - QOMO - is at 172 meters high and spins around its own axis once every hour.

It offers a unique gastronomic experience, blending Japanese-European fusion cuisine with Asian influences and Japanese aesthetics. And that’s not all – cocktails here also meet the highest standards in Europe.

The tower’s shaft also features a sculptural clock, the Lichtzeitpegel (Light Time Level), with circular portholes that mark the hours, minutes and seconds of the day. As it’s the world’s largest digital clock, it also happens to be one of Dusseldorf’s most popular landmarks.

The tower has an observation deck at 164 meters and another at 168 meters, plus a revolving restaurant with a fine selection of Japanese fusion cuisine. The view is breathtaking and it’s worth a visit, especially at night!

3. The Art Museum

The museum at the Rheinturm is an excellent place to visit. It has a large collection of art that is accompanied by an extensive journey through Dusseldorf’s history.

The art museum is split into two sections - one is more serious and innovative, the other fun and creative. The section called “orbit” is quite unique because you get to walk inside a building at high altitude.

It also has an amazing restaurant on the top floor which revolves so during the course of your meal you constantly get different views of the city and the river. The food is fantastic and the staff are very friendly.

If you’re looking for a place to visit, there are a lot of museums in Dusseldorf that have good permanent collections but often mind-blowing changing exhibitions as well. Among the best known are the NRW-Forum with changing exhibitions of modern and contemporary art, and the Kunstpalast which houses a wonderful collection of paintings as well as an impressive glass museum.

4. The Shops

Located on Konigsallee in Dusseldorf, this 4-star hotel is less than a 10-minute train ride from the city’s main station. It features free Wi-Fi and a flat-screen TV in every room.

This stylish hotel is also in the Medienhafen district and a short walk from Dusseldorf’s Old Town. It offers free breakfast and is just a few blocks from the famous Rhine Promenade.

One of the most interesting aspects of this tower is the sculptural clock on the shaft. The octahedral light spot on the top third of the spire reflects the time across its three parts: the hours, minutes and seconds. It’s the world’s largest digital clock, and it is definitely a sight to behold. The other notable feat of the Rheinturm is a well-designed observation deck that combines a number of small exhibits with a larger one, including a revolving restaurant with 180 seats. It’s a great place to see the city. The best way to see it is to book a guided tour, which will also get you up close and personal with some of the coolest structures in town.
