Da Nang is a big, bustling city that's also very close to beautiful beaches and mountains. It's a great place to get away from the city buzz and experience some of Vietnam's best nature attractions.
One of the most popular things to do in Da Nang is to take a hike up to the Marble Mountains. These five limestone outcrops are topped with pagodas and hemmed in by caves containing Buddhist shrines.
The Dragon Bridge
The Dragon Bridge is one of the most iconic features of Da Nang and no visitor should leave without a look at this magnificent structure. Not only is the bridge a symbol of the city, but it also has an amazing fire show every weekend.
It is a free event that takes place on Saturday and Sunday nights at 9 pm. During this time, the dragon’s head erupts with fire and water.
The best place to watch the show is on Tran Hung Dao Street, but you can also see it from a range of other locations such as hotels and rooftop bars near the bridge. Just be sure to arrive early as it can get crowded and busy before the show begins.
The Cham Museum
The Cham Museum is home to the world's largest collection of Cham art and sculpture. It's located on the corner of Bach Dang Street and Trung Nu Vuong Street in Da Nang.
The museum showcases over 300 sandstone and terracotta sculptures collected from Cham temples and towers throughout Central Vietnam, from Quang Binh Province to Binh Thuan Province. The museum was established in 1919 by French archaeologists from Ecole Francaise d'Extreme Orient (EFEO).
The museum was expanded twice, in the 1930s and 2002. Nowadays it not only displays the works but also serves as a storage space, a library, and a restoration workshop.
The Fifth Military Division Museum
Da Nang is home to the Fifth Military Division Museum, which is a must-visit for history buffs. Built in 1977, the museum provides guests with a glimpse of Vietnam’s tumultuous past through extensive displays of war relics and news articles.
The outdoor display area is particularly fascinating, with a massive collection of aircraft and tanks from the French and American wars. Inside, the 12 indoor galleries are a testament to the strength of the Vietnamese people during these difficult times.
Visitors can also admire the pair of old slippers that belonged to Phan Thi Mua, a female special task force member who detonated an American fuel depot in 1972 by smuggling dynamite powder under her sandals.
My Son
Located in the mountainous Duy Xuyen District of Quang Nam Province, My Son is an ancient site that dates back to the 4th century. It is home to a wide variety of temple ruins and relics.
The complex is a must-visit attraction and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is an incredible place to learn about the history of Champa and the evolution of Cham architecture.
The ruins are located in a beautiful valley that surrounded by tall mountains. There are timeworn temples and burial sites that date back to the Champa Dynasty.
Pham Van Dong Beach
When you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city then a trip to Pham Van Dong Beach is an ideal choice. This beautiful beach is a favorite for locals and tourists alike due to its soft and clean sand as well as the lovely ocean waves that blow over it.
The beach is also known for its lively events and festivals that take place throughout the year. This includes international parachute, paragliding, and sand sculpture building contests.
The Han Market
The Han Market is one of the most bustling attractions in Da Nang and a great place to shop for souvenirs. It's a two-story indoor market, established in the 1940s.
It's a great place to find cheap souvenirs and gifts for family and friends, as well as clothing items. It's also home to some of the city's top tailors, so you can get a custom suit or dress at an affordable price.
Besides shopping, you can also try some delicious Vietnamese food at the Han Market. A good option is to try banh canh, a thick noodle soup that's popular in Central Vietnam.
