1. Schlossplatz
Schlossplatz is the central city square and a popular place for people to socialize or just sit and soak their feet in the fountain. It’s a great spot for a picnic on a warm day and a good place to see the sunset.
This huge open area has been reconstructed repeatedly and is dominated on one side by the New Palace, which used to be home to the Kings of Wurttemberg. Today it houses government offices.
The other side of the square features the massive Altes Schloss or Old Castle, a structure which has been in existence since the 10th century. Inside the building are collections of art, medieval objects and the royal crown jewels of Wurttemberg.

You can also climb up to Rubble Hill (Birkenkopf) for a beautiful view of the city. The entire hill was built over rubble from over 50 air raids during World War II.
3. Mercedes-Benz Arena
The Mercedes-Benz Arena is home to VfB Stuttgart, a German Bundesliga football club. The stadium opened in 1933, and has since undergone a renovation to upgrade the facilities.
The stadium has a capacity of 54,500. It is also home to many other events and attractions.
The stadium hosts a variety of events including concerts, theatre shows and sports matches. It is home to such thrilling annual events as the magical Appassionata horse show and the high-octane Night of the Jumps motocross series.
4. Killesberg Park
Killesberg Park is an oasis of tranquility in the middle of the city, featuring a 40 metre-high observation tower and plenty of great family activities. There is a small railway to ride, a petting zoo, children’s play areas, a beautiful fountain, and so much more!
This park was once a quarry, but has now become an area of green space for the local community. Its design draws inspiration from the long process of changing quarry topography to a more gentle landscape.
The park has a wide range of gardens, lakes, terraces, and restaurants. It is also home to a narrow-gauge railway. In addition, there are several children’s playgrounds and outdoor swimming pools.
5. Fernsehturm Stuttgart
A key landmark in the city, the Fernsehturm Stuttgart is the first telecommunication tower ever built in Germany. It stands 217 meters high and is a must-visit for anyone visiting the city.
- The observation deck at the top of the tower is an incredible vantage point to enjoy panoramic views of Stuttgart and the Swabian countryside, as well as the Black Forest and Odenwald in the winter.
- It’s also an ideal spot to take a moment to reflect and remember the city’s wartime scars. You can walk around the top of the tower and admire the ruins from the Second World War.
- The mausoleum of King Wilhelm I and his wife, Queen Catherine Pavlovna of Russia, is also worth a visit. Designed in Neoclassical style, it is a beautiful monument to the love that existed between the two rulers.
