Verona is a fascinating city with many faces. From Roman ruins to medieval structures, frescoed houses and devotional traditions to modern-day shopping streets and fun sights, there's much to explore.

One of the most popular things to do in Verona is visiting Casa di Giulietta or Juliet's House. This is the place where Romeo and Juliet professed their love to each other.

Piazza Bra

Piazza Bra (the locals call it Bra) is one of the most iconic and popular places to visit in Verona. It's home to the famous Roman amphitheatre (Arena di Verona), surrounded by plenty of cafes and restaurants.

This is also the area where you'll find the historic town hall (Palazzo Barbieri), which was designed by Giuseppe Barbieri in the Neoclassical style. It's worth a look inside and you can get a good view of the arena too.

In the centre of the square is a small garden, with a fountain surrounded by cedar and pine trees. The water feature was given to Verona in 1975 by the German city of Munich as part of its twinning with Italy.

Basilica di San Zeno

Piazza delle Erbe

Piazza delle Erbe is a diamond-shaped square lined with important buildings on the site of Verona's Roman Forum. It's a popular gathering place for tourists and locals alike.

It's also home to the Torre dei Lamberti and the Pallazo della Ragione. You can climb to the top of the tower to get a panoramic view of the city.

Aside from its imposing architecture, the square is a pretty spot for enjoying a coffee or glass of wine. It's dotted with beautiful brick facades and ancient monuments, including the Madonna Verona Fountain, which dates back to 1368.

Aside from its regal charm, the square is also home to several cafes and restaurants. It's a great way to spend some time while in town, and is especially popular in the summer when it's filled with market stalls selling all sorts of souvenirs.

Verona

Casa di Giulietta

If you’re a Shakespeare lover, then you’ll love visiting Casa di Giulietta (Juliet’s House). This is the balcony where Romeo professed his love for Juliet in the play and there are tons of romantic graffiti and letters left here by visitors.

Verona is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and its Roman ruins, medieval fortresses, Renaissance architectural delights, and incredible art all make it an unforgettable destination. Here are some of the best places to visit in Verona:

Piazza dei Signori is a beautiful square surrounded by buildings that have played an important role in the city’s history. Here you’ll find cafes and restaurants where you can enjoy a coffee or meal.

Basilica di San Zeno

Basilica di San Zeno

Located slightly out of the centre, but worth making the trek for, Basilica di San Zeno is one of Verona’s most beautiful churches. Its beige and peach color floors and arches make it a lovely sight to behold.

The church also has a large crypt that houses the sarcophagus of the saint San Zeno, who is the patron saint of fishermen and new born babies. This crypt is quite unique and very interesting in its own right.

Another must-see in the city is Juliet’s house (Casa di Giulietta). This world famous house has been featured on the cover of many tourist guides, and is still one of the top things to do in Verona if you have read or watched the play Romeo and Juliet.

Ponte Pietra

The UNESCO-listed city of Verona has many things to offer visitors. From Roman ruins, bell towers and terracotta roofs to colourful architectures from the medieval era.

  • The Ponte Pietra is a bridge that is one of the most beautiful sights to see in Verona. It is situated in the heart of Verona and has the most spectacular views over the glistening Adige River.
  • The arch is located near to the medieval Castelvecchio and is a must-visit for anyone visiting the town. This historic structure is also a great place to watch the sunset over the spires of Verona.
